Empirior the Emperor! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Sue Kenny

He certainly was at Monmouth this afternoon.  A big 5 year old horse by Empire Maker, Empiror is getting better with age.  He's only been in the barn for his past three starts but seems to like training at Fair Hill.  He reminds me a lot of Bullsbay as he's a big horse and looks rather like him.  When he first came he made me laugh as wherever you stood in front of him, he looked over you or past you but not at you!!  Now he makes sure he looks straight at you or he doesn't get a peppermint!!  Congratulations to Gold Mark Farm.

With_Jades_Revenge_D308407Nine horses will run from the Herringswell barn on Saturday, at four different tracks. From Colonial to Monmouth to Delaware to Philadelphia, the nine will run for a over $1,536,000 in collective purse money.

Live Oaks Legacy, Taking A Chance, Check the Label and Moon Music are highlighted by Check the Label's attempt for a third consecutive graded stakes victory in the G III $150,000 Virginia Oaks at Colonial Downs.

Two back, the 3-year-old Stormin Fever filly put herself towards the top of her division while capturing the Grade III Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland. After her first stakes score, she took her improving game to Belmont Park for the Grade II Sands Point. Her Memorial Day performance opened some eyes and stamped herself as 'the real deal' while capturing the stake convincingly. Ramon Dominguez will travel to Virginia to ride her in her quest for three-in-a-row.

bullsbay09a_jtBullsbay will have the opportunity to run in Delaware Park's tenth race on Saturday with the cancellation of turf racing. Bullsbay will be ridden by Jeremy Rose. The Sussex Stakes, originally carded as a 1 1/16 miles turf stakes for older horses, will be transferred to the main track due to a substantial amount of rain the track has taken.

Bullsbay won the the Harrison Johnson Stakes, the G III Alysheba, and the G I Whitney Handicap in 2009.

The 6-year-old Tiznow colt is our lone runner on Saturday.
