Smart Man!

Smart Bid kicked off 2010 with an amazing second in the San Fernando Stakes (Grade II) at Santa Anita, beaten only by Papa Clem who was on the Derby trail last year!  Interestingly, they are both by Smart Strike.  Smart Bid ran against Papa Clem in his last start over 7f but the extra distance made all the difference in this company.

He is out of the great family that Mr. Strawbridge has produced in the last few years; Smart Bid being out of Recording and Recording being out of Ratings who was at Jonathan Sheppard's while I was there.  A Stakes winner herself, Jonathan used to sometimes school her over hurdles rather than breeze her{jcomments on} as she just loved to jump!!
